REPORTS TO: FRYSC Coordinator, School Principal, FRYSC AmeriCorps Manager

JOB FUNCTION: FRYSC AmeriCorps is a program partnering with the district. Service members seek opportunities to strengthen students and families through the support of their host Family Resource and Youth Services Centers or nonprofit mission. Members provide literacy support to students, participate in and lead FRYSC programs, and manage and recruit volunteers. This is an AmeriCorps position, which provides an education award upon satisfactory completion of service to the FRYSC Corps and host site.

- 900-hour member - Serving from December 1, 2024- June 15, 2025
- $10,700 annually paid out 2x monthly – 35-40 hours a week, Education Money
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recurring access to vulnerable populations. Works with assigned students as a literacy tutor using a school-approved reading curriculum. K-5 tutors a target of 15-30 students. Grades 6-12 tutor a target of 7-15 students. The goals are to complete 13 hours of tutoring with each assigned student and to help the student reach their expected growth goal. This may include individual or small group work and assessment support. May support students in academic subjects other than literacy.
- Works with the FRYSC Coordinator to support FRYSC, school, and district programs in support of removing non-cognitive barriers to education and strengthening students and families within their communities.
- Seeks opportunities to build strong relationships with the host site and FRYSC community partners who support the FRYSC goal of removing nonacademic barriers to learning by assisting with programs in support of education and strengthening students and families.
- Adheres to partner site and FRYSC AmeriCorps guidelines for maintaining a safe environment for students, families, and colleagues.
- Maintains accurate and confidential records of student progress and member service activities.
- Communicates tutoring and other service activities to site supervisors, instructional teams, and FRYSC Corps staff via regular professional meetings and reports.
- Manages and/or recruits a minimum of 8 volunteers.
- Completes FRYSC AmeriCorps-approved training.
- Speaks to civic organizations about experience in AmeriCorps service.
- Participates in mandatory meetings with FRYSC AmeriCorps.
- Participates in 9/11 Day of Service, MLK Day of Service AmeriCorps Week, and other service projects as directed by FRYSC Corps.

- Learn and provide support for FRYSC programming.
- Communicate using a variety of online and in-person tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must agree to a criminal background and sexual offender check before beginning service.
- High school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
- Prefer youth-specific experience for Youth Service Center service and family-specific experience for Family Resource Center service.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights, up to 30 pounds.
