Paris City Schools is seeking a highly skilled, results-driven Instructional Coach to serve a 100-day targeted assignment at Paris High School and Paris Middle School. This role is designed to accelerate student achievement through high-quality Tier 1 instruction, aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) expectations for instructional coaching and continuous improvement.
The Instructional Coach will work directly with teachers, PLC teams, and school leadership to strengthen instructional practices, improve student engagement, and increase proficiency outcomes. This is a non-evaluative, job-embedded support role focused on building teacher capacity and driving measurable academic gains.
Primary Purpose
To improve teaching and learning by:
- Strengthening Tier 1 core instruction across content areas
- Supporting implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies, enhancing PLC effectiveness and data-driven decision-making, increasing student proficiency and college/career readiness outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching and Teacher Support
- Provide job-embedded coaching through modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback cycles
- Support teachers in aligning lessons to KAS standards, learning targets, and success criteria
- Assist in implementing high-impact instructional strategies aligned to KDE and research-based practices.
- Facilitate reflective conversations that lead to instructional improvement
PLC Development and Data Use
- Lead and support Professional Learning Communities focused on:
- Standards alignment
- Common formative assessments
- Student work analysis
- Intervention planning
- Guide teams in using data (benchmark, formative, diagnostic) to adjust instruction
- Support creation and monitoring of Red/Yellow/Green intervention systems
Tier 1 Instructional Improvement
- Ensure rigorous, standards-based instruction is present in every classroom
- Support differentiation, scaffolding, and equitable access for all learners
- Strengthen classroom practices aligned to high engagement, student-centered learning, and cognitive demand
Assessment and Accountability Support
- Assist with preparation for KSA, SAT, and other accountability measures
- Support teachers in aligning instruction to tested standards and blueprints
- Monitor progress of targeted student groups and recommend adjustments
Professional Learning and Capacity Building
- Design and deliver targeted professional development aligned to school needs
- Build teacher capacity in:
- Lesson internalization
- Formative assessment practices
- Student engagement strategies
- Academic discourse and writing
Collaboration and Leadership Support
- Work closely with principals and district leaders to align coaching priorities
- Participate in instructional walkthroughs aligned to KDE frameworks and ELEOT-style indicators
- Support school improvement planning aligned to CSIP and KDE priorities

- Increased implementation of standards-aligned lessons across classrooms
- Improved quality of PLC conversations and data use
- Measurable growth in benchmark and formative assessment performance
- Increased student engagement and on-task behavior
- Movement of students from Novice/Apprentice to Proficient categories
- Clear evidence of Tier 1 instructional improvement across both schools
Qualifications
- Valid Kentucky teaching certification (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement
- Strong knowledge of Kentucky Academic Standards and KDE accountability systems
- Experience with instructional coaching, PLC facilitation, or teacher leadership preferred

Position Expectations
- This role is non-evaluative and focused on support, not supervision

- Work will be split between Paris High School and Paris Middle School based on need
